KARACHI: Siraj-ul-Haq, senior minister for finance, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, has said that Islamic banking should flourish in the city, as it is the economic hub of the country.
Addressing the Bank of Khyber’s Raast Islamic Banking’s 10th anniversary at a local hotel on Thursday, he said: “Islamic banking and financial institutions are attracting more attention of those people who are keen to emphasise on joining human beings common financial needs.”
Earlier Imran Samad, managing director of BoK, in his address of welcome said that BoK Raast Islamic banking was started in 2003 and today it enjoyed the confidence of people by having more than Rs14 billion deposits.
BOK Raast Islamic Banking Branch profit for the period January-November stood at Rs378 million, he said, adding that branch network will be enhanced in the near future.
“We are offering all banking facilities to our Raast Islamic Banking Group customers across the country and their confidence is increasing with each passing day,” Samad said.
