INDIA: Veteran academician speaks on Interest Free Banking in Guwahati

Guwahati: M. H. Khatkhaty, a pioneer in the field of Interest Free Banking spoke on the advantage of interest free banking while interacting with the students of University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya (USTM) in Guwahati on Thursday. He also urged upon the students to acquire knowledge on diversified fields at the present day world context.

Addressing the group of more than 200 students and faculties Khatkhaty said that Interest Free banking or Islamic concept of finance is an emerging field not only for the people of a certain religion but for all.

“This concept, according to studies has proven to be very ethical and less risky compared to the conventional financing systems. Islamic Finance is a trillion dollar plus industry today and is emerging as one of the fastest growing areas of International finance. So a student of management or commerce may ponder over this type of financial system as in future they will have ample scopes,” Khatkhaty said.

Khatkhaty, faculty at the Department of Management studies and Research at Aligarh Muslim University is also closely associated with different groups which believe in Islamic Finance and Shariah findings in India.

He said that with the development in almost all the sectors the industries have become very much co related with each other.

“These are the days where the people with multidisciplinary knowledge are valued more. So student must always have an interest for other subjects and too and keep a good concepts about other subjects too. A person with finance specialisation these days needs a good knowledge of production management too or else he will face a multiple difficulties,” he said.
