Dubai: Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council and President of the Hamdan Bin Mohammad e-University (HBMeU), has launched the Dubai Islamic Banking and Finance Centre as part of efforts to make Dubai the world’s capital of Islamic economy.
The move is in line with the ambitious vision and directives of the wise leadership.
The centre was launched in cooperation between the initiative of Dubai the world’s Islamic economy capital and the Hamdan Bin Mohammad e-University.
The centre will offer academic programmes for students who will be able to study for a master’s and foundation certificates in Islamic banking and finance through the centre, which will be part of the Hamdan Bin Mohammad e-University.
“The launch of the centre is a significant boost to the Islamic economy sector in the UAE, and a major step forward in the economic development agenda of Dubai.
The announcement follows the unveiling of a plan in January by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, for the emirate to become the “global capital” of the Islamic economy.
The centre will conduct research to “advance the professional and theoretical foundation for Islamic banking and finance. It will also play a role in improving access to Islamic banking and finance education for the wider community in the Arab world.
