MALAYSIA: Executive Forum On Islamic Finance To Focus On Corporate, Shariah Governance

KUALA LUMPUR, July 16  — Strengthening both the corporate and Shariah governance mechanisms in the Islamic banking industry, will be a key focus of the Second Executive Forum on Islamic Finance here Executive Forum on Islamic Finance from Aug 26-27.

Themed, “Towards Strengthening Corporate and Shariah Governance in Islamic Banks”, the forum is being organised by the Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB) and INCEIF, the Global University of Islamic Finance.


IFSB and INCEIF in a joint statement today said among the confirmed speakers are Asyraf Wajdi Dato’ Dusuki, President, Islamic Da’wah Foundation, Jaffar Mohamed Ahmed, Head of Group Risk Management, Al Baraka Banking Group, Bahrain and Rustam Mohd Idris, Deputy Director, Islamic Banking and Takaful Department, Bank Negara Malaysia

Corporate governance will be discussed in the context of an evolving industry that is subject to the complexities of business and the need to promote Shari’ah compliance in Islamic banking operations.

Among the topics to be covered at the forum is, “Supervisory Review of Corporate and Shariah Governance Practices in Islamic Banks”.

The Third Executive Forum on Islamic Finance: Takaful, will be held from Oct 8-9 here.
